Win at Taming a Gremlin

Updated: Dec 13, 2020

There's that gremlin voice is inside of you, the one that's nagging you inside and making you feel really insecure in every situation that you're in. We're going to talk about how to squash them.

In a recent blog, I did a talk about the gremlin voice. I talk about ways to help make that gremlin voice a bit quieter, even eliminate it completely. I think about how you're out there sometimes walking around, carrying those negative thoughts about yourself.

But you know something, you're pretty unique. I mean, there isn’t anybody else like you. You were made with a special purpose. There is something so unique about you that is not in anyone else. I believe that it's called a seed. That seed needs to be nourished and developed so that it can grow into something bigger and greater.

You need to feel confident in who you are, have a want and desire to help others, and be an example to other people around you. That's something that you can do, it's who you were created to be. Don't focus on those gremlins (your self image, your weight, the type of clothes that you have, where you live, or your income) focus on the things that you love about yourself. Your smile, your personality, and the compassion you have for other people. Those are some of the things that make you unique. Things that help you to overcome the gremlins inside of you. Every human being messes up, so don’t be so hard on yourself when you make a mistake. What can I learn from it? How can I be different? What can I do differently?

What can I do to avoid letting the situation happen again?

Do something positive. You can help someone by buying them groceries, help them cross the street, or even sit with them and watch a TV show. Be a blessing to others. Spend time encouraging people. When you wake up in the morning and you look at yourself in the mirror and say to yourself, “I think you're awesome. I love you. You are a great person. You can do great things today.” Do that every single day for a week. Give me your feedback. Let me know how this impacts that gremlin inside you. I guarantee that if you are consistent and you do this for at least one week, you're going to start to see your mind shift and that gremlin voice? It steadily becomes quieter. Stay consistent even longer, next thing you know, it is gone.

Be blessed and be a blessing.
